screen shots? examples?

I feel like a moron, bc I'm not sure if I did something wrong, or if I set things up right, but perhaps i don't know the next step. are there any screen shots so I can "SEE" what the steps look like? maybe I'm missing one thing? I wouls love a step by step inteuction. i have my ip info, but I'm stuck. help! I have iPad 2, a Mac desktop, runs lion. also have wireless...
