1. Open System Preferences

2. Choose Sharing

3. Turn On Screen Sharing. Make sure it's on and "Allow Access for all users" (especially if you are using Mac OS X Lion), then click on "Computer Settings..."

4. Turn on "VNC views may control screen with password" and give it a password. You will need this password when adding entry in the app.

If you have Mac firewall enabled, you might need to make sure it's not blocking connection.
System Preferences -> Personal , Security -> Firewall
If it's off, then you are fine and do not need further action on firewall; if it's on, click "Advanced" make sure you see "Remote managment allow incoming connections" has a green light, if not, uncheck "Block all incoming connections" and check "Automatically allow signed software to receive incoming connections".

I have followed the instructions for viewing my Mac screen and it will not connect. I get a note say failure to connect to Dougoyer:5900.
What can I do to connect?

Can you use the IP instead of Dougoyer? This tool will show you the ip:

The connection is refused means either:
1. Screen Sharing is not enabled
2. The firewall on Mac is blocking the connection, see here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1810

I have an iMac G5 with Ver. 10.5.8. I followed the steps for Leopard/Snow Leopard. When I enter the "My Mac" startup password, it never registers and keeps showing the startup password over and over again. What to do?

Cherie Lorraine, we do not quite get your question. Can you describe in more details? The app startup password is used to protect others to access the app. It's different with the password used to login to Mac. If you accidentally set it, you can delete and reinstall the app.

Hi there guys

I seem to be getting the same problem when trying to connect to my Mac. It either refuses the connection or connection time out appears. I used the Config to reveal all of my info that i need to run the app from my Ipad and it gave me 3 Ip adresses, and neither of them want to connect me to the Mac.
The NVC password that i use are the same on the Mac and the Ipad and everything is entered as instructed by the website, yet i still cant connect.

Is the ipad and the mac on the same local network? If the mac is at office, it also need to config port forwarding.
