Keyboard issues

I'm using an iPad 2. The app works perfectly with the exception of the keyboard. The proposed keyboard is the American one in some extent different from the standard European one. This could be overcome, but what are impossible to reach are the numbers: I hit the ".?123" key, the numbers appear, but hitting them nothing appears on the screen. I also would like to know how to bypass the password request to access to my iMac screen.

I said that nothing happens hitting numbers. Actually on the screen numbers correspond to %,&, and so on. I hit all the keys, but the numbers are nowhere. I disabled the osx password request, but it is still on.
